Thanks for making the first York Harbor Striper Tournament a huge Success!
CCA Maine would like to thank everyone that participated in the the York Harbor Striper Tournament on Monday June 24th. By all accounts it was a huge success, both in money raised and how much fun we all had. Between the participants and the sponsors, everybody chipped in $31,000, and all the proceeds will go to support CCA Maine and York Hospital. York Harbor Marine Service was a terrific host and The Dockside Restaurant was an outstanding location for both the captains' party and the wrap-up party, and the food they provided was just amazing.
The conditions were great, and competition was fierce on Monday. It took some impressive fish to win all three categories. There were pogies around for the bait fishermen; and the calm, slightly overcast morning helped the sight fishermen find some big fish on the flats. More than one person said it was the best day of fishing they'd ever had.

10/22/07Sedgwick fisherman faces $510,000 fine
The captain of the Western Sea fishing boat and the vessel's owner face $510,000 in fines from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration for allegedly failing to comply with federal reporting laws on herring landings.
NOAA concluded that the vessel's captain, Daniel Fill, 43, of Sedgwick, failed to report about 15 million pounds of herring harvested in the Gulf of Maine between June 1 and late August, resulting in 51 violations of the Magnuson-Stevens Fisheries Conservation and Management Act.
